Supporting students, families, disabled and the elderly in Southern India

About Us

Sponsorship

Focusing on the education of disadvantaged children we provide expense support from primary to college level and currently support over 400 children. We are always looking for more sponsors who will join us in providing a better future for these needy kids.

The children we help are either orphans or come from families that can no longer support them due to severe financial or health difficulties. We do not focus on any one caste, religion or ethnic background but select children and their families that desperately need assistance. We provide student uniforms, notebooks, shoes and pay their school fees. For some children whose families are in dire need we are able to give a little extra help such as providing food parcels and medical aid.

Special Projects

There are a number of special projects undertaken by Smyrna that operate on campus and within the local communities. Weekly or monthly invitations to students or the elderly from the area bring larger groups to the campus for meals or special presentations. To make all of this possible without relying totally on charitable giving the leadership is undertaking the establishment of small businesses that can employ local people as well as bring financial support back to Smyrna. On campus the bakery staff makes tasty bagels, cinnamon rolls and other tasty baked goods that are sold locally to raise extra funds for Smyrna. Also the Smyrna Guest House is being remodeled to operate as a B&B with an attached cafe and gift shop.

We welcome sponsorship to help establish these special projects. If you have any questions or would like to help in any way please contact us.

Vocational Courses

The rural areas in and around Smyrna are home to many poor workers and farmers. Their children find it virtually impossible to enroll in mainstream computer or technical education courses due to travel and financial constraints.

To help these needy students Smyrna looks to establish a vocational training center in various disciplines and plan to partner with universities providing remote advanced technical education.

Rehabilitation Center

On the Smyrna Home campus we are proud to offer the New World Center, a rehabilitation center for disabled children and adults, dedicated to improving their health and quality of life.

The center specializes in the physical rehabilitation of those who suffer from disabling physical illnesses or injury and who cannot afford to seek appropriate treatment themselves. The impairments we seek to treat are wide-ranging and include cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, motor neuron diseases, polio, amputations, stroke, spinal cord injuries, mental retardation and chronic pain.
